Sun in the 8th House in Vedic Astrology
The Sun signifies the soul, the father, authority, vitality and the bones. The 8th house, Randhra bhāva, governs longevity, obstacles, hidden matters and inheritance. Below is what the classical texts say when the Sun stands there, verse by verse, before the Shubham Method's modern reading.

Questions
What does the Sun in the 8th house mean in Vedic astrology?
The Sun signifies the soul, the father, authority, vitality and the bones; the 8th house (Randhra) governs longevity, obstacles, hidden matters and inheritance. Few sons, eye trouble, bodily illness and modest wealth, with losses of livestock; yet becomes well known.
Is the Sun in the 8th house good or bad?
Neither on its own. The texts change the result with the planet's dignity (exalted, own sign, debilitated), the planets joined with it or aspecting it, and the strength of the house lord; the conditional lines above show how. The result then ripens in the planet's own period (daśā).
How do I know which house the Sun is in?
You need your birth date, time and place. The free Vedastro calculator computes the sidereal (Lahiri) chart and shows the house of every planet.
