Saturn in the 8th House in Vedic Astrology
Saturn signifies endurance, hardship, servants, discipline and old age. The 8th house, Randhra bhāva, governs longevity, obstacles, hidden matters and inheritance. Below is what the classical texts say when Saturn stands there, verse by verse, before the Shubham Method's modern reading.

Heavy structural transformation. Longevity matters, inheritance processes slow, chronic health management, deep lasting change, endurance tested.
Where this layer and the classical texts differ, the classical texts take precedence.
Translated directly from the Sanskrit; verse numbers follow the editions used by the Vedastro engine. These are classical associations — tendencies, not certainties. 3 statements that name an age or a death are left out here: they can only be judged from the whole chart.
Questions
What does Saturn in the 8th house mean in Vedic astrology?
Saturn signifies endurance, hardship, servants, discipline and old age; the 8th house (Randhra) governs longevity, obstacles, hidden matters and inheritance. The text gives three-quarters of a full life, poverty, servitude, food earned with hardship, and liaisons with women of lower status.
Is Saturn in the 8th house good or bad?
Neither on its own. The texts change the result with the planet's dignity (exalted, own sign, debilitated), the planets joined with it or aspecting it, and the strength of the house lord; the conditional lines above show how. The result then ripens in the planet's own period (daśā).
How do I know which house Saturn is in?
You need your birth date, time and place. The free Vedastro calculator computes the sidereal (Lahiri) chart and shows the house of every planet.
